The key to successful surgeries is a combination of theoretical knowledge, practical experience as well as exchange with colleagues.

The “Universitätsklinik und Poliklinik für Urologie“ (University Clinic and Polyclinic for Urology) in Halle (Saale), Germany not only stands for modern treatment options and the use of the latest technologies, but also has an outstanding reputation for conducting workshops on minimal invasive surgery for bladder dysfunction. A surgical workshop “Treatment of male urinary incontinence with ATOMS” was recently held under the direction of Dr. Sandra Schönburg.

At the beginning of the workshop, the participants received information in detail on the use of ATOMS (Adjustable Transobturator Male System) in comparison with other treatment methods and learned about current studies and research results. In the practical part, the patients’ profiles and histories were discussed before several ATOMS implantations were performed. The training ended with an intensive exchange of experiences between the participants.

“I am very pleased with the engagement of the attendees. There were excellent questions and discussions during the workshop. I am sure that we were able pass on a wealth of knowledge and provide motivation in treating male urinary incontinence,” Dr. Schönburg said after the workshop.
